Our journey so far

Updated: Dec 23, 2023

Taking a moment to reflect, our latest blog delves into our journey, current endeavours, and future aspirations. We've been actively involved in local markets, starting with the Barrow market and Portland Walk in October. Supplying our locally harvested honey, beeswax, scented candles, and wax melts, the response has been thrilling.

Preparations for our first market began well in advance, fuelled by excitement to connect with the local community.

The feedback and conversations on our values and ethos during the markets were inspiring.

The momentum continued with our participation in events like Ford Park's Apple Pressing Day and the Eco Fair in Grange over Sands. Engaging with the public and sharing our ideas on conservation further fuelled our enthusiasm. Subsequent events, including farmers' markets, Winterfair in Barrow, and the Dickensian festival in Ulverston, offered overwhelming yet enjoyable experiences, reaching a diverse audience.

In December, we launched our website, offering an online shop with the option for locals to choose local delivery just before Christmas due to the busy postal season.

Looking ahead to the future, South Lakes Honey Company is excited about expanding values and ethos. In 2024, plans include developing cosmetic products with a focus on environmentally friendly and sustainable ingredients. Hosting beekeeping events and collaborating with locals for estate-based activities are also on the agenda.

The company is also gearing up for infused honey varieties, incorporating ingredients like lavender, ginger, turmeric, and lemon for added health benefits.

The commitment to conservation remains strong, with projects ranging from native wildflower initiatives to large-scale landscape endeavours. In agriculture, environmental sustainability practices are a priority, extending to the apiary and housing for native species. Customers can actively participate by purchasing products like wildflower seeds and bug hotels.

As the future looks promising, South Lakes Honey Company expresses gratitude to the supportive public and customers. Your kindness and feedback have made this journey truly amazing. Follow our social media for updates and developments. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and sharing our progress through Blogs.

Thank you for being a part of the South Lakes Honey Company's story.
