Dave Day 2 weekend (21st–22nd June 2025) was one we’ll never forget here at South Lakes Honey Company.
It marked not only our return to Barrow Market Hall but also the launch of exciting new products fantastic community spirit and our first experience of attending two markets back-to-back over the weekend.
Saturday 21st – Aloha Market, Barrow Market Hall
We kicked off the celebrations at the Aloha Market inside Barrow Market Hall on Saturday the 21st.
This was our first time back trading at Barrow Market in a while and it felt great to see both familiar and new faces stopping by our stall.
Even more exciting was the chance to finally launch some new products we’ve been working on for months:
🔥 Our brand-new South Lakes Hot Honey – honey infused with dried chili and sriracha for the perfect sweet-meets-heat kick.
🧴 Beeswax Leather Conditioner – ideal for nourishing and protecting leather goods.
🪑 Beeswax Furniture Polish – giving wooden furniture a natural beeswax shine.
💄 Our long-awaited Beeswax Lip Balm – made with simple, natural oils and beeswax. We’ve been so excited about this one and loved seeing people try it for the first time!

The Aloha Market was a brilliant, friendly event and a fantastic start to the weekend.
Sunday 22nd – Barrow BID’s Food Festival & Makers Market
On Sunday the 22nd, we packed up again and headed into town for the Barrow BID Food Festival & Makers Market in the heart of Barrow town centre.
The town was buzzing with energy, the town centre was filled with local traders food stalls live entertainment and of course visitors from near and far many of whom were here especially for Dave Day.
We brought Hot Honey samples and by the end of the afternoon we were completely sold out!
The feedback was incredible.
People were loving the balance of sweet and heat and it sparked loads of conversations about how to use it.
We had suggestions from customers like:
Drizzling it over pizza and fried chicken
Adding it to salad dressings
Spicing up cocktails
And even as a glaze for roast vegetables and BBQ meats
You can find more on this in our previous blog via our website
(Some of these serving suggestions have already made their way into our previous blog feel free to check it out if you’re looking for inspiration!)
Community Spirit & A Fitting Tribute to Dave Myers
One of the most special parts of the weekend was witnessing the incredible sense of community and devotion from the people of Barrow-in-Furness.
The bikers riding in for Dave Day had to battle through some slightly miserable weather on their journey into Barrow but true to form that didn’t stop them, with around 50,000 bikers arriving into Barrow
Many stayed over for the weekend, taking time to explore Barrow’s beautiful estuaries visit landmarks like the Abbey Ruins and enjoy our stunning local beaches and some camping.
Everywhere you looked there was a shared feeling of celebration and remembrance paying tribute to Dave Myers life and legacy.
We want to say a huge thank you to:
Every customer who supported us across both markets
The event organisers, volunteers, and Barrow BID team for all their hard work
Barrow Market Hall and their staff for always smiling and general support
The wider Dave Day community for turning out and making the weekend so special
Supporting Dave Day Charities – NSPCC & CancerCare
We’re also thrilled to share that the fundraising effort for NSPCC and CancerCare North Lancashire & South Cumbria has recently reached (and exceeded!) the £20,000 target.
That’s an amazing contribution from our community towards two incredible charities whose work makes a real difference.

Dave Day 2 weekend was a huge milestone for us – from launching new products, to selling out of hot honey, to being part of a community-driven event that means so much to our town.
